he Oak Pointe Charity Classic proudly supports the Star Legacy Foundation – West Michigan Chapter, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to reduce pregnancy loss and neonatal death while improving the care families receive when faced with such unimaginable tragedy. Each year in the United States, over 21,000 babies are stillborn—a number that does not include the thousands more lost to neonatal death, miscarriage, or birth complications. Many of these losses are preventable, and families often face them without warning, answers, or adequate support. We fundraise because these babies matter. Their families matter. Their stories matter.
They are a national community of bereaved families, medical professionals, researchers, policymakers, and advocates united to increase awareness of pregnancy and infant loss, support groundbreaking research into stillbirth prevention, provide education to families and healthcare providers, advocate for stronger policies, improved data collection, and comprehensive family support.
They believe that through better technology, education, and collaboration, many of these tragic losses can be prevented. We envision a world where expectant parents are fully informed of risks, third-trimester ultrasounds are standard to detect warning signs, high-risk pregnancies receive the attention and management they deserve, stillbirth and neonatal loss data is properly collected and shared, families receive mental health care, financial relief, and compassionate support.
By fundraising and giving today, you are helping Star Legacy Foundation build the world’s largest pregnancy registry for stillbirth research, provide grief support services to families across the U.S.Host the Stillbirth Summit, a leading event for researchers and families, educate clinicians and families on preventive care and risk awareness, offer legislative advocacy and public policy education, deliver peer-led support groups for grieving parents, grandparents, and caregivers, and provide resources and guidance for parents navigating life after loss.
